5 sex resolutions for the New Year
New years start full of the best things plans, but some don’t need to be about discipline and pushing yourself (losing weight, being better with money, eating healthier) – some can be about pleasure. Start the new decade deciding to have better sex and give yourself new sensations and a better rapport with yourself and your partner for more enjoyable times for all! Here’s our top 5 sex resolutions for the new year, and here’s to a new decade full of great sex.
1. Lie-ins! A lot of conversation in the past few years has been about how people (and in particular millennials) are having less sex than previous generations and in previous years. A lot of factors have been documented as explaining this, and one of them is how much busier and stressed people are with longer working weeks and the effects of austerity still being felt around (not a word one expects to see in a sex blog!). This all boils down to having less time for sex – simple as that! So in the new year make time for yourself and your partner, starting with as basic a little thing as having a lie-in on a weekend morning! If you just get to be in bed together doing nothing, that’s when one thing can lead to another and you can have more fulfilling and experimental sex!

2. Try something new According to the Kinsey Institute lots of people feel they get stuck in a sexual routine that ultimately makes sex feel like one of the mundane things of their day to day lives and ends up losing its appeal and thrill! So to kickstart things in the right direction, bring something new into the relationship that you’ve never done before (and that you can keep doing if it works out!). Perhaps that might be introducing a sex toy or experimenting with bondage or even opening up the relationship to other people and exploring threesomes and foursomes! Even if it isn’t a permanent change, it might make the idea of trying something new the next time a whole lot more feasible! Here’s a few ways we can help, with some toys!
3. Ask your partner what they want This might seem like a no-brainer but to lots of people either squeamishness or plain old forgetfullness and habit mean we forget to check in with our partners and see what they’re thinking and desiring or fantasising about when it comes to their sex life! So ask them outright what they might be interested in and then (if you’re comfortable with that) do it for them! Meeting another person’s desires is the only thing as hot as having your own desires fulfilled!
4. Get rid of phones in bed When it comes to a mood-killers, having two people lying side-by-side in bed ignoring each other while they scroll through their feeds is probably the worst one! Phones have been shown in a research carried out by The Washington Post to be part of why people are having less sex! So make it a rule and put down your phone when you get into bed (or at least reduce the time you spend on it) so you can focus on what is immediately beside you and a whole lot more interesting no doubt!
5. Know yourself This perhaps should be the first one on the list but we say it so often – knowing your own body and what gets you off or turns you on is imperative in order to have fulfilling and engaged sex life! Knowing how to make yourself have an orgasm, knowing how you like to be touched, etc are all things that you can figure out with a partner but also you need to do it by yourself so you know what to tell them to do. Knowing what you want is sexy, so make a resolution and masturbate more and know exactly what you want so you can go ahead and get it!
